E-learning for Youth in the Council of Europe
The E-learning for Youth (ELFY) platform, based on a Moodle app, provides its users (participants, facilitators, and trainers) with a wide range of online courses and educational resources to serve the programmes and activities of the Council of Europe Youth Department and its partners.
It supports primarily facilitated hybrid learning activities which also include residential activities such as study sessions and training courses held at the European Youth Centres in Budapest and Strasbourg. Additionally, some e-learning self-facilitated courses and resources are also available.
The platform reflects the approaches underlying non-formal education, human rights education and intercultural learning, notably it is:
- Based on voluntary participation
- Accessible to everyone (ideally)
- Combining organised learning process with educational objectives
- Participatory in nature
- Learner-centred
- About learning life skills and preparing for active citizenship
- Involving both individual and group learning with a collective approach
- Holistic and nature and process-oriented
- Valuing participants experiences and actions
- Reflecting the needs of the participants
- Supporting learning about, learning through and learning for human rights.
The platform and its contents function through contributions and inputs from their users, who include trainers, facilitators and participants. It is conceived as a safe space for learning, sharing and creating. Users are thus expected to use the platform with respect for human rights and dignity of everyone.
